Activities of the Physics Department 2016-2017
The new session 2016-17 was started with an in house workshop of one week (25th July to 29th July 2016) on Power Point Presentation was organized in the Department in order teach the students of M. Sc. Ist Semester how to prepare the PPT.. The training programme was given by the faculty members of Computer Science, Mr. Prafful Manikpuri, Mr. Neeraj Chandrakar and Mrs. Latika Tamrakar.

Teacher’s Day was celebrated by the department of Physics on 5.09. 16. On this occasion the H.O.D.,Dr. Purna Bose spoke about the life of Dr. Radhakrishnan and Dr. J.K. Saluja addressed the students. Other faculty members Prof. Anita Shukla, Prof. Siteswary Chandrakar, Dr. Neha, Ms Tripti, Ms Manaka, Ms Pragya, Mrs Latika and the students of M.Sc. Ist and IIIrd Semester were present in the programme.
The Ozone Day was celebrated jointly with Chemistry Department on 16.08.16. The programme was presided over by the principal ,Dr. S. K. Rajput. He said that ozone layer protects us from U.V. rays. So it is our duty to protect the ozone layer. The H.O.D.of Physics Dr. Purna Bose and H.O.D.of Chemistry, Dr. Anupama Asthana also addressed the programme. The student of M.S.c.Physics, IIIrd Sem. Ms Megha Sahu and That of Ist Sem. Prince Jain Yamini Baghel of Chemistry advised to protect the environment and the ozone layer. A power point presentation was given by Gautam (M.Sc. Chem.). A play to protect the ozone layer was performed by students of M.Sc. Ist Sem Physics in which Prince Jain, Shruti, Neha, Tushar etc. participated. All the faculty of Physics and Chemistry were

The Inaugural Function of the Physics Society was held on 22nd Sept.2016. The Chief Guest of the function was Dr. G.D. Sao, the ex-principal of our college The welcome song was sung by Sweta Rajput, Anjali Sahu, Tushar Dey, Jyoti Thakur and Manju Sahu. The Physics Society organized quiz competition, chart competition, rangoli competition.Prizes were distributed by Dr. Sao for the rank holders of the competitions. A PPT was given by Tushar Dey student of Ist semester on ‘ Raman Effect.’
The programme was addressed by Dr, Purna Bose, the HOD she told about the activities and the achievents of the students of the department during the session 2015-16.Dr.G.DSao addressed the students and spoke to work hard so that they can compete with others.
The Annual Report was narrated by Vice President, Dhanesh Banjare’. The anchoring was done by Ms Megha Sahu.
A workshop of Nano Material Modelling (Siesta-India) of ten days starting from 25th Sept. 2016 to 6th Oct.2016 was held at SSCET-1 Junwani and the workshop was guided by Dr. M.L. Verma, HOD of Physics SSCET. 12 students (Pramod Kumar, Damini, Virendra, Nilima, Supriya, Kamta Prasad etc. ) of M.Sc. third Semester and two(Shruti Upadhaya and Mukesh ) of M.Sc. 1st Semester attended this workshop. In this workshop the student learnt about nano-material modelling which will
useful for their further studies.
A two days School Teachers Practical training Programme was held on 3rd and 4th Oct.2016 in which school teachers learnt about practical on diffraction of grating
with laser, dispersion of rays by prism using spectrometer and magnetic field due to circular coil, surface tension of water by capillary rise method etc. About 19 school teachers of Durg district attended the training Programme.
Inspire Programme (22nd Oct- 26th Oct.2016)
The Inspire Programme for best school students from different schools of Durg district was held from 22nd Oct- 26th Oct.2016. About 20 students performed experiments ( wavelength of laser by using grating, Radius of a circular current carrying coil, etc.) in the Physics Lab on 24th Oct.2016 during

The Validictory Function of the Inspire programme was held on 26th Oct. 2016. The chief guest of the programme was the Collector of Durg district,Mrs. Sangita. The welcome song was sung by the students of M.Sc. Ist and IIrd semster Physics,Tushar R. Dey, Sweta Rajput, Jyoti Thakur, Suman,Manju, Anjali Sahu.
Dr. Jageet Kaur Saluja, one of the faculty member of the department delivered one lecture in Govt.College , Utai on 3rd December 2016 on “Competence Building”.
