Invited lecture of International level scientist and Fulbright scholar Prof. Jon Harbor, Professor and head, Department of Earth and Atmospheric sciences, Purdue University, Indiana, USA was organized by Geology department on 26th February 2013. He delivered his lecture on "Climate change". His wife Dr. Amy Harbor was also present on the occasion. All faculty members and students of the college were present during his lecture. |

Geological excursion tours were organized for under graduate and post graduate students of geology in the year 2013-14. Under graduate students visited Dongargarh and studied about igneous rocks where as post graduate students visited different mines and mineral deposits of Rajasthan, M.P. and U.P. They collected some rare specimens of fossils, Minerals, Ores, Rocks during their excursion. |

Post graduate students of Geology department participated in "Innovation fair" organized by Chhattisgarh Council of Science and Technology, Raipur at Chhattisgarh haat, Pandri, Raipur and presented working model based on "Solid waste Management in Railway stations". Their model was highly appreciated by the organizers and spectators. |

In collaboration with department of Geography, Botany and IQAC of the college, a workshop entitled "Importance and application of remote sensing and GIS". Was organized on 11.02.2014. Dr. S.K. Pandey, Professor and Head, Department of Geology, Pt. R.S.U. Raipur delivered his key note address in the workshop. Dr. Prashant Kavishwar, Scientist of CG Cost Raipur also presented his views in second session of the workshop. |

On 29 January 2015, Professor Greg Shellnutt of Taiwan University visited our department and presented his invited talk on "Scope and importance of Geology" . Dr. K.R. Hari Professor of Geology, RSU Raipur, Dr. Sushil Chandra Tiwari, Principal of our college, other faculty members and students were present on the occasion. |

In the academic session 2014-15, PG students of Geology visited Rajasthan, U.P. and M.P. During their geological excursion these students collected specimens of rocks, fossils and minerals for their studies. These students also visited open cast coal mines of Korba and nearby areas and studied about the coal deposits of Chhattisgarh. |

In the year 2015-16 PG students of Geology visited Jagdalpur, Baster area for their geological field work. During their field work students studied about Kutumsar limestone caves, Chitrakut water fall and tin deposits of Bastar area. |
Geological Society
Geological Society has been formed every year in the beginning of academic session. Various Competitions like quiz,poster, model, seminar presentation, essay writing were organized under the activities of the society. Social Activities like Environmental awareness campaign, water pollution, water conservation, rain water harvesting were also organized in different villages and nearby areas by the members of the geological society.
In the year 2013-14 and 2014-15 under the banner of geological society, invited lectures from prominent geologists and other subject experts were organized for the benefit of the students. Under this programme, Dr. Nitish Dutta, Ex- Director General of Geological Society of India, Dr. Shailesh Choure, Professor of geology, Govt. Holkar Science College,Indore and Dr. Sandeep Vansutre, Registrar, Kusha Bhau Thakre Patrakarita Vishwavidyalya Raipur delivered their Invited talk in the department.
With a view to provide important information regarding career, various career counseling and training sessions were organized in the geology department. Dr. Rajendra Chaubey, Professor andhead delivered his lecture on psychological counseling of students where as Dr.Amrita Kasture, Professor and head, department of English, Govt. KCB College Bhilai-3. Presented her views on "Development of communication skills".
