WORKSHOP ON “MUSHROOM CULTIVATION & ITS PROSPECTS”
A workshop on “Mushroom cultivation and its prospects” was organized from 28th September to 03rd October, 2016 by the Department of Botany, Govt. V.Y.T. PG Autonomous College, Durg (C.G.) with the collaboration of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Anjora Durg (C.G.). Dr. S.K. Rajput, Principal, Govt. V.Y.T. PG College, Durg was the Chief Guest and Dr. S.K. Thapak, Program Coordinator, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Anjora Durg was the Chair Person of the inaugural function of the workshop. 45 students of M.Sc.-I and III semester (Botany), Govt. V.Y.T. PG College, Durg, 05 students from Swami Swaroopanand College, Hudco, Bhilai and 04 research scholar from ST. Thomas College, Ruabandha, Bhilai were participated in the workshop.
The main objective of the workshop was to inspire the students for the entrepreneurship in the field of mushroom cultivation and it’s harvesting and marketing. Dr. S.K. Thapak from Krishi Vigyan Kendra Anjora, Dr. C.S. Shukla, Chief Scientist, Mushroom Production Unit, and Dr. H.K. Singh, Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidhyalaya, Raipur (C.G.) were invited for the technical and practical sessions of the workshop. A total 11 technical session and 12 practical sessions were conducted.
Six days workshop was concluded in the presence of Dr. S.K. Rajput as Chief Guest, Principal, Govt. V.Y.T. PG College, Durg and Dr. S.K. Thapak, as Chair Person from Krishi Vigyan Kendra Anjora. Prof. L.K. Chelakswami, Rtd. Professor, Department of botany was also present as special guest.
Dr. Ranjan Shrivastava, Coordinator and Dr. G.S. Thakur were the Organizing Secretary of the workshop. All Faculty members Prof. Gayatri Pandey, Dr. K.I. Toppo, Dr. Shubha Gupta, Dr. Pragya Kulkarni, Dr. Shriram Kunjam, Dr. Reena Sahu, Dr. Gayatri Neelam Shastri and Ms Pranita Shrama Research Scholar were also given their presence in the workshop.
Inaugural Function of Botanical Society
The botanical society inaugural function was held on 01st October 2016 in the Department of Botany. Dr. C.S. Shukla Chief Scientist, Mushroom Unit, Indira Gandhi Krishi Viswavidhyalaya, Raipur as the chief guest and delivered a lecture on “Diversity of edible fungi”. All M.Sc. I & III Semester students and faculty members were grace the function. Poster competition was also arranged among the students in the inaugural functions.
